Chiaroscuro is the classical painting technique that builds depth and drama from the contrast between light and dark. The old masters treated shadow not as emptiness, but as origin, the ground from which a single, converging beam of light could rise to honor its subject. Astral Solstice carries this belief into its material: shadow gives form, and light gives meaning. The collection makes this philosophy radical through a single celestial image: the solar eclipse, nature's greatest act of Chiaroscuro. At the instant the Moon and the Sun align without a hair's breadth of error, the most brilliant corona of light ignites at the very edge of darkness, the deeper the shadow, the wider the reach of the light.
